This award was presented to Dr. Cosgrove not only for his commitment to a better world and the furtherance of world understanding and peace, but for his vision in guiding the Clinic’s global outreach through international medical education programs, “in-country” offices located around the world and the special care taken with those individuals who daily travel to Cleveland far away from home through the Clinic’s International Patient Services program. The “culture of care” Dr. Cosgrove has fostered embodies so much of what Rotary was founded on - “Service Above Self.”

Dr. Delos (Toby) M. Cosgrove

He continued his speech on the Cleveland relationship with Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). One interesting fact - 8500 doctors applied for the job and they selected the 175 best of them for the facility.

Dr. Delos (Toby) M. Cosgrove

He said that he is often asked why the Cleveland Clinic is investing in Abu Dhabi and he states that "Abu Dhabi is investing in the Cleveland Clinic." The relationship has also spread the name of the Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland around the world.

In the Q&A session, Dr. Cosgrove was asked if people and their kids should get vaccinated. Dr. Cosgrove said that everybody should get vaccinated and that there is no evidence that the vaccines are associated with autism. He warned that we will have an uprising of diseases (like measles and whooping cough) if we don't immunize.

Congratulations to Ingrida Bublys, Richard S. Pollak, Chair, International Service Committee, Beverly A. Ghent-Skrzynski, Executive Director/2014-2015 President-Elect and all of the Cleveland Rotary for the 2015 International Fellowship Day event and congratulations to Dr. Cosgrove for a much-deserved award.
