The Russian Cultural Garden hosted its first inaugural "Grand Piano in the Russian Garden" concert. The event took place on the site of a future Russian Cultural Garden on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Rockefeller Park.

The concert's theme was "Music of the Cultural Gardens of Cleveland" and featured works from composers in other Cultural Gardens such as Chopin (Polish Garden) and Liszt (Hungarian Garden). Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky represented the future Russian Garden.

Svetlana Stolyarova , chairman of the Russian Cultural Garden board, welcomed the crowd and said this is the inaugural Russian Garden concert but they plan to make it an annual event.

Svetlana introduced Sheila Murphy Crawford, president of the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation, who welcomed the Russian Garden to the family and thanked the hard working volunteers led by Svetlana Stolyarova and Boris Vinogradsky.

Next, Paul Burik, Vice-president of the Cleveland Cultural Garden Federation, spoke and said that the theme of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens is Peace though Mutual Understanding.

Before the main performance, Svetlana Stolyarova introduced 3 young girls who performed on the grand piano in the Russian Cultural Garden. Victoria Zemskov, Raisa Bolotova and Yulia Okun performed as their teacher Svetlana Ivanova looked on.

Svetlana Stolyarova spoke in Russian and English and explained that the performance included works by composers honored in other Cultural Gardens such as Liszt and Chopin and also Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

Nara Avetisyan is a CIM Student. She was second-prize winner at the International Piano Competition “Rome 2008”, “First prize-assoluto” at the 2003 XXVI International Piano Competition “Le Muse”, winner of: 2001 International Piano Competition “Konzerteum”, 2000, laureateship at Balys Dvarionas International Competition, laureateship in the 1999 "Talents of the End of Century" competition. She asked that we not post the videos of her performance.

Dmitry is also a CIM student and Grand Prix: 2009 VI International Competition of Young Piano Players by V.Villuan, winner of: 2008 VI International Rotary Children Music Competition, 2005 IV International Competition of Young Piano Players by A.Artobolevskaya, 2004 V International Competition of Young Piano Players by T.Nikolaeva, 2004 V International TV Competition of Young Musicians “Shelkunchik”, 2003 IV Piano Competition by V.Villuan.

Svetlana Stolyarova explained that their plan is to have sculptures of Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff in the Garden.

He was second Prize winner and Russian Prize winner at the 2013 Cleveland International Piano competition. Winner of: the first prize at the 2012 International V Scriabin Piano Competition, 2008 Rovere d’Oro Prize International Instrumental and Vocal Competition, 2008 International Competition for Young Musicians - “New Names”.

He then performed Rachmaninoff Musical Moments n.4.



After the performance, Svetlana Stolyarova invited the 3 performers - Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev, Dmitry Tyurin and Nara Avetisyan - to the stage where they were presented with flowers as the audience cheered.

Boris Vinogradsky presented flowers to Svetlana Stolyarova, chairman of the Russian Cultural Garden board, and others at the conclusion of the inaugural Grand Piano Concert in the Russian Cultural Garden in Cleveland Ohio.
