We walked through it with Museum Curator Andy Lazar. Watch the video.

Andy told us about the early heroes like Michael Kováts who came from Hungary to shape the Continental Army's cavalry during the American Revolutionary War. Also the veterans of the 1848-49 Hungarian War of Independence who played a notable role in the American Civil War, mostly serving as officers in the Union Army.

An interesting section is called Martians and Andy explained that they were Hungarian scientists who helped shape the 20th century West - many with the Manhattan Project.

Obviously, the photos and video are just a sample of what is on display and do not do justice to the impressive exhibit. Everyone will have their own interests and favorites and you will find yourself saying, "I didn't know they were Hungarian!"

Plus there are other exhibits and artifacts of Hungarian heritage and culture in the Museum that you will want to spend time with. The Hungarian Museum is free to visit and is located in the Galleria on East 9th Street in Cleveland.
