Terry Stewart
President and CEO, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Keynote Address 2012 Cleveland International Hall of Fame
Terry Stewart gave the keynote address at the induction ceremony for the 2012 class of the Cleveland International Hall of Fame on Wednesday May 9, 2012.
Terry Stewart, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum
Terry Stewart has been the President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum since 1999. Since opening in 1995, the Museum has welcomed more than eight million people with annual visitors coming from all 50 states in the U.S. and more than 100 countries.
Long active in civic and philanthropic endeavors, Stewart serves on many national and international boards. Locally, he serves on the Boards for the Cleveland Film Commission, Positively Cleveland: the Cleveland Convention & Visitors Bureau, and The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio. He was named the 48th Annual Business Executive of the Year by the Sales & Marketing Executives Association of Cleveland.
Stewart has also served on the Boards of the U.S. Committee for UNICEF in New York and the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse, based in Chicago.
He has graciously spent time with us to share his thoughts on Halls of Fame and will be serving on the Advisory Board of the newly forming Cleveland International Hall of Fame non-profit.
Terry makes sure that when a huge event such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction takes place that everyone can get involved. The week leading up to the event is packed with events for all tastes, many of them free and open to the public.
He knows that the Museum needs to be a living part of the community - not just a building. He has teamed up with the Cleveland Public Library to offer free and legal music downloads. The city will soon be strewn with sidewalk markers of the Rock Hall of Famers that will be destinations for visitors and locals as well.
He has worked to open the Museum's Library and Archives to the public at Tri-C Metro. They host numerous community events such as the recent Diversity Center Walk.
He "gets" Halls of Fame and "gets" Cleveland.
