John Jencson, President, United Swiss Society of Cleveland, sent us this report and photos. The United Swiss Society of Cleveland (USSOC) hosted our annual Swiss National Day celebration August 1st at the Keystone Shelter of the Cleveland Metroparks West Creek Reservation. The day recognizes the day in 1291 that the Swiss Confederation was founded. We celebrate with friends (old and new), food (bratwurst, Italian sausage, German potato salad, peppers and onions, and of course desserts including strudel), and music (accordion and alphorn). We welcomed over 100 adults and 12 children. In the past we have had a single alphorn, which was great, but this year we were blessed to have the newly formed 4-member Cleveland Alphorn Society and what an enjoyable experience for all present. We have a presence on Facebook at CLE Swiss. Check us out.
