During his remarks, Rev. Eric Orzech told why the date of May 3 was chosen for Polish Constitution Day and it's connection to the feast of Our Lady, Queen of Poland. He spoke of fighting off a Swedish siege and the Black Madonna (Our Lady of Czestochowa) is said to have miraculously saved the monastery of Jasna Góra from a Swedish invasion. The Siege of Jasna Góra took place in the winter of 1655 during the Second Northern War, as the Swedish invasion of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is known. The Swedes were attempting to capture the Jasna Góra monastery in Czestochowa. Watch the video.
