Irish Cultural Garden at One World Day
August 24, 2025
Cleveland's Irish community was well-represented at One World Day in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens on August 24, 2025. One World Day has been the official event of the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation since 1946.
The Irish marched in the Parade of Flags, performed on stages and hosted music, dance and activities in the Irish Garden. Due to the generosity of Ambassador Edward Crawford, the Gerry Quinn Irish Radio Show broadcast live from the Irish Garden on One World Day.

The theme of the 2025 One World Day was "Textiles." Shannon Corcoran from the Irish Cultural Garden in Cleveland showed us some of the textiles of Ireland. She told the story of the classic Irish knit sweaters from the Aran Islands. The Arans are a group of three islands at the mouth of Galway Bay, off the west coast of Ireland. The mother would knit a distinct pattern into the sweaters so their fishermen family members could be identified if tragedy happened at sea. She also showed some famous Irish linens and collars and wool pulls. Watch the video.
