Saint Patrick's Saltire or Saint Patrick's Cross is a red saltire (X-shaped cross) on a white field, used to represent the island of Ireland or Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Bill Salmon carried the flag in the 2018 St Patrick's Day Parade in Cleveland and explained the meaning.

The theme of the 2018 St Patrick's Day Parade in Cleveland was Prominent Irish Pioneers of the 20th Century. Timmy Campbell of the West Side Irish American Club in Cleveland explained their float. It featured a biplane flown by Lady Mary Bailey who in 1929 made the longest flight ever accomplished by a woman, and her 18,000 miles journey was the longest solo flight by either a man or a woman. It also featured NASA astronaut Eileen Collins the first female pilot and first female commander of a Space Shuttle.
