Cleveland Hungarian Museum 40th Anniversary Celebration Galleria on 9th St. in Cleveland

The Cleveland Hungarian Museum hosted a 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday May 10, 2025 in the Galleria in Cleveland just outside the Museum. Almost 200 people attended.
The program began with a welcome from Master of Ceremonies George Kozmon who then introduced Museum President Janos Szigeti for his remarks.

Then Fr. Richard Bona, JCD, Pastor of St. Emeric Church, gave an invocation.

Next, Balint Bakondi, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Consulate General of Hungary in Chicago gave his remarks and congratulations.

Next, The band Harmonia performed including 'Ezt a kerek erdot jarom en' which featured an amazing violin solo by Jozef Janis. Walt Mahovlich is Harmonia director and played accordion, Catalin Petrescu played string bass and Alex Fedoriouk played cimbalom.

Master of Ceremonies George Kozmon introduced Museum Curator Andrew Lazar and Vice-President Eva Szabo who discussed the history of the Museum.

Then Elmer Meszaros, Endowment Committee Chair, spoke about the future of the Museum.

A highlight was the Dances of Kalotaszeg by Laszlo Tihanyi, Leader of the Hungarian Scout Folk Ensemble, and Zsofia Vagvolgyi, Korosi Csoma Sandor Fellow. The band Harmonia played the music.

The program ended with Harmonia performing "Meg ne mondja komamasszony" / "Friss csardas" / Csipd meg bogar" - cimbalom solo. Watch the video.
