The word “sokol” translates to "falcon" and is symbolic of the Sokol ideals: Courage, Strength, Endurance, Fraternalism, Love of Democratic Principles & Pride of Country.
Community partner Fountain Of Grace Outreach Ministries prepared burgers, ribs and other food. There was food, music and camaraderie as well as a History Quiz to see what people knew about 1776. The gathering raised the flag, sang the national anthem and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
Later, the group gathered at the electronic sign on Broadway and placed 50 American flags around it.
Paul Burik said, "This is a community event, part of our community outreach; despite being ethnic we are American!"
