Black History Month ended with 'The Crowning Event' ceremony in the City Hall Rotunda on February 28, 2013.

Next, Rick Reynolds told of the history of the Alpha Step Crew, part of the Alpha ESQuires Club, a youth development program of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Delta Alpha Lambda Chapter. He then introduced the Crew.

The title of Ms. Bernstein's address was Marching Orders.

In her keynote, Ms Bernstein said that our children need able and stable role models and that we should not get used to anything less than that.



Ms Bernstein also told about a project she wants to work on - The Purse Project - that will help get more mentors for our youth. She said that "Friends should not let friends date guys who don't mentor."

Lee Freidman, CEO of College Now, spoke next. College Now works so that all who seek higher education will have the support they need to successfully complete their postsecondary education, lead more satisfying and productive lives, and contribute to the region's economic vitality.

Jacqueline Muhammad spoke about the importance of mentoring youth and announced a special scholarship that the City is creating for College Now.
